MATCH REPORT -  6th February 2010 Vs Ambergate

A very hard game against a team that don't play football and would be more suited to a game of rugby. Codnor got dragged into a physical and verbal match that suited the visitors more and distracted codnor from there usual gameplay.
This game never deserved to be lost by codnor as they are a far better footballing team but will learn from this for the away fixture towards the end of the season. Lost 2-1.

MATCH REPORT -  13th February 2010 Vs Derby Singh

With no keeper bothered to turn up a injured lee turner took the role as goalkeeper And manager Craig vasey was the only person on the subs bench. This was the worst turn out to date and the players that let there team mates down by not turnning up without a valid reason should be deciding on thier future an wether they are part of the miners team or not. The players that were there should be very proud of the way they played.
This was a fast game an derby sing took advantage of codnors keeper by catching him out of postion a few times An some good play also lead to a halftime score of 5-0 which flattered derby as codnor were matching them in every postion on the pitch except the net which is not to take anything away from turner who did his very best.
The second half was by far the best football that codnor have played all season every player gave one hundred percent an two goals from new stricker Liam was the iceing on the cake for a great display. Well done codnor on this display we will soon be back into winning ways. Lost 5-2.

MATCH REPORT -  30th January 2010 Vs Spondon Rovers

A very tight first half with only one mistake made by the miners defence which resulted in a goal for spondon some good football played by both teams and lots of chances created by the miners midfield. A 1-1 halftime score line was more in favour of spondon and then with miners making changes for the second half an conceding two goals in a mad ten mins it was very good play by codnor to get back to 3-3 an in the end were unlucky not to get all three points

MATCH REPORT -  23rd January 2010 Vs Sudbury Prison

A very tough 1st half, with the miners struggling to return to the form they showed before Christmas. 1-1 at half time, with fittness levels taken the toll in 2nd half. A very fit and orginised Sudbury took controll of the game and didn't let miners back in. A big improvement needed next week against spondon.

Match Report 26th August 2009 Vs Stanley Common Away

The match kicked off at 6.30pm at Stanley Common and  was a strong start for Codnor, going a goal up early on from a Carl Robshaw strike.  Not too much time passed by before Codnor went two up from Lee Turner.  Despite Strong displays at the back from Scott Sisson and Lee Turner, Codnor conceeded a goal by failing to clear the ball from a Stanley Common corner , and matters got worse when key player Chris Sharp was substituted due to injury.

Soon after Codnor again failed to clear the ball from the goal when a Stanley Common Striker intercepted the ball only to trip himself up in the penalty area resulting in the referee blowing his whistle and awarding a non deserving penalty to the home side. However it was deserving for Codnor when the penalty was struck  directly into the cross bar only to end up behind the goal. The first half ended 2-1 in favour of Codnor with a great first half for keeper Kris Egerton.

On to the second half and codnor found themselves losing another goal when Stanley Common levelled the match at 2-2. Codnor seemed to be affected by Stanleys third goal and failed to respond conceding a fourth from a great Stanley Common strike to make any manager happy. Again Stanley dominated and in went a fifth, then a sixth and Codnor had appeared to have fallen apart.

There are again positives to be taken from the match with improved performances from a number of players, however Codnor need to remember not to apportion blame on others but to work together to achieve better results and talk to each other. The match ended 6-2.

Match Report 29th August 2009 Sudbury Away

Codnor Started the match with much optimism but were soon under pressure with an early injury from Nick Mann who was immediately substituted. Chris Sharp also struggled from the start but soldiered on until half time where the score stood at 2-0 in favour of the home side. The second half proved just as tough as the first facing a strong, fit and skillful opposition . The match ended 4-0 to Sudbury but Codnor played their best football so far this season.

Match Report 5th September 2009 Allenton Sports Home

Another steady start for Codnor got even better when Tom Hawkins blasted the ball into the back of the Allenton net to put the Miners a goal in front, concentration was as high as the morale and the lads were determined to stay focused to hold on and improve on their early lead. And score again they did when the Allenton keeper fumbled the ball and Russ Sharp was on hand as ever with a cool tap in to give Codnor a well deserved two goal advantage. Codnor then did what they've done best all season which is give the ball away with silly mistakes at the back and poor control of the ball letting Allenton back in the game with their first goal. Codnors chance of gaining their first three points of the season seemed to diminish when a penalty was conceded and Allenton made sure they converted. As if that wasn't enough when yet another penalty was awarded to the visiting team along with two further goals and the first half ended 4-2 to Allenton.

The half time talk from the manager seemed to have an impact when the boys at the front started to get some service, especially when the star man Tom Hawkins spotted the keeper off his line and delicately chipped the ball over his head and into the back of the net to bring Codnor back into the game. The enthusiasm was short lived when another silly mistake at the back opened the door for Allenton to pounce and claim their fifth. Codnor responded with another of their famous attributes when their heads wnet down and they conceded a third penalty and  sixth goal. As substitutions were made late into the game this could not revive the Codnor side and yet two more silly mistakes in the last couple of minutes of the game and they had fallen apart giving Allenton two more goals and an 8-3 win.

Match Report Wednesday 9th September 2009 Loscoe Dynamo Home

Loscoe arrived at Codnor with an experienced team and showed the Miners what they had in their bag when they started to pepper the Codnor Goal, with substitute keeper Rob Fowkes trying to defend the Codnor net it proved all too much when Loscoe turned on the charm. Despite a  fantastic goal from Chris Hodgkinson in the second half, Codnor gave their worst performance of the season so far. The lack of communication and fitness was at the top of the agenda in the managers eyes and the Miners could't do anything to avoid a 13-1 Home defeat.

Man of the Match            Tom Hawkins

Match Report Saturday 12th September 2009 Black Panthers Home

After a very dissapointing midweek game the Miners picked themselves up and prepared to battle against the travelling Black Panthers in the League Cup new signings on the bench the hope was that Codnor could unite to form the team they were starting to look like only a week ago. The Panthers struck early to break Codnors defence and send home their first goal of the match. The new look Codnor kept their heads high and started to play football, the new structure of the side was looking better and they held on until  just before the stroke of half time when the Panthers struck again. The second half started as the first and Codnor were still in high hopes and the effort was showing when the back four started to hold their line and the Panthers were caught offside on numorous occasions. One of the Panthers players suffered an injury and had to be removed from the pitch after a stern challenge from Chris Sharp. Hawkins was definately missed in midfield as Russ Sharp recieved no service up front. Russ Sharp was shortly replaced by Robshaw who suffered the same and Codnor never looked like scoring. The Codnor defence continued to do their job but the panthers found their way through on a few more occasions to put a couple more goals in the back of the net to secure a 4-0 win and put Codnor out of the cup.

Man of the Match         Stephen Hunt

Saturday 19th September 2009 Derby Deaf Away

Since last weeks hammering by Loscoe Dynamo, Codnor somehow found the fighting spirit they have needed in previous weeks. With new signing Adam Bond in midfield Codnor looked a better shape all round. Bond was straight into the match commanding the centre of the park and winning the ball on countless occasions. Stephen Hunt created space time after time on the left and was unlucky not to get on the score sheet with a number of goal bound strikes. Nick Mann also had a great first half mixing it up with Richard Harvey in the middle and the pair were communicating really well.

No goals in the first half was a first for the Miners and an optimistic start to the second half.A couple of changes were made by the manager at half time which saw Nick mann replaced by Matt Bryan as this was Nicks firts match returning from the injury picked up at Sudbury.  Dave Henson was moved up  front and soon had the ball in the back of the net only to be called offside. Confidence was high and the momentum carried on  when Henson put the ball in the back of the net again and this time successfully putting Codnor on the score sheet.  Codnor seemed to get very nervous at the back  and Derby Deaf were gifted a few chances to level the score but they failed to capitalize on them. As the long awaited final whistle was blown, Codnor had seen their first win of the season out of eight games.

Match Report Saturday 26th September GAD Singh Brothers Home

After a few forced changes from last weeks winning line up Codnor drew on their strengthy squad to put out another good team. Dave Henson, last weeks winning goal scorer made his debut in the net this week and proved to be a valuable member of the team.  Codnors organisation appeared to be the strongest so far and the confidence showed as plenty of opportunities were created. For a second week running Codnor made it to half time without conceding  although not scoring themselves. The second half started without any changes to the line up and Codnor went from strength to strength when Adam Fairfield struck the ball from way out on the left only to brush the underside of the cross bar and leave the visiting goalkeeper stunned. This was the breakthrough Codnor needed and they soon had the ball in the back of the net again with a great header by Adam Bond from a Nick Mann corner.  The manager Craig Vasey made a couple of substitutions including bringing himself onto the pitch with ten minutes to go, his decision was soon rewarded as he chased down and won a loose ball on the right crossing it in for Adam Bond to claim his second of the match. Codnor are looking in great shape and look forward to meeting Ambergate away in a cup game next week.

Match Report Saturday 10th October 2009 Vs Cotmanhay (formerly Woodside)

With a very poor and sleepy start Codnor were quickly woken up after an early barrage from Cotmanhay and two goals in the first ten minutes. Codnor soon fired back with a goal from their leading scorer Adam Bond to reduce the defesit to one after only fifteen minutes of play. Cotmanhay were showing their physical strength but a determined Codnor refused to submit when Adam Bond got his second to equalize  after half an hour of play. Cotmanhay soon replied again with their third shortly before the half time whistle.  Into the second half and the Miners were starting to take control of the game and create opportunities,  it wasn't long before Tom hawkins got his head onto the ball to direct it over the keepers head and bring the game level again.  Substitutions were made which saw Chris Hodgkinson return to the side after becoming a father and Codnor soon had a free kick on the edge of the box which was taken very quick and caught Cotmanhay off guard and in to the back of the net. Codnor were then denied a penalty with a very poor decision from referee Paul Roberts and the game ended 4-3 to Codnor. Three league wins in a row lift Codnor from the bottom of the table with confidence levels at an all time high.

Match Report Saturday 17th October 2009 Vs Spondon Rovers (DCFA Junior Cup)

Codnor got off to a  great start keeping possession of the ball and creating ample opportunities. They ere unfortunate to lose Adam Fairfield very early on in the game due to injury. Most of the chances came from Jamie Allen on the right and Matt Bryan in the middle. It wasn't long before Ashley Howarth got his head onto a flick from Matt Bryan to send the ball past the Spondon Keeper and open the scoring.  Codnor tried to continue their control of the game but slipped up to lose their lead as Spondon equalised.  Spondon then conceded a penalty and up stepped Richard Harvey to capitalize on the situation and give the Miners the lead once again. Soon after Richard Harvey had to leave the field due to a back injury and was replaced by the playing Manager Craig Vasey. The general play of Codnor was an inspiration and there were godd performances from a number of players but the fitness of the Miners still seems to be an issue as once again goals were conceded in the latter stages of the game and Spondon claimed their place in the next round sending Codnor crashing out to a 4-2 defeat.

Match Report Saturday 24th October Vs Spondon Rovers Away

It was a shakey start my Codnor who managed to concede a goal in the first five minutes although it was a good move from Spondon to start the game off. Codnor managed to get stuck in and start to keep some possession and threaten the Spondon goal but it was at the stroke of  thirty minutes when Adam Bond opened Codnors account with a great header at the near post. The chances were coming thick and fast and the Miners were giving the Spondon keeper a tough time and it wasn't long before a good strike from Ashley Howarth was deflected only to be placed in the back of the net to give Codnor the lead. Mann had the opportunity to score again shortly after but sent the ball high over the bar. Spondon were showing their frustration when their number 7 player retaliated to a firm tackle from Ian Turner which nearly erupted into a brawl but the Spondon team tried to calm their man who was very lucky not to be sent off, but he was issued with a yellow card. The first half ended 2-1 in favour of the Miners. Injuries hampered the Codnor side once again when striker Ashley Howarth had to leave the pitch shortly followed by Nick Mann. Russ Sharp replaced Ashley up front and Codnors midfield capitalized on his pace by playing the ball through time and again for him to attack the Spondon goal. His persistance soon paid off as Russ put the Miners 3-1 up. Richard Harvey also had plenty of chances but failed to produce the finish and was replaced by Chris Hodgkinson who missed an absolute sitter and an open goal to sky the ball over the cross bar. Codnot should have had a much bigger win but will settle for 3-1 and 3 more points to help them on their way up the league table.

Match Report Saturday 31st October Vs Loscoe Dynamo

Codnor mad a bright start to the game, hoping to make amends for the last time they met with Loscoe and lost 1-13. A very hard first half for both teams saw Loscoe take the lead mid way through. As Codnor started the second half a goal down the pressure was on to turn the game around they pushed hard up front but left gaps at the back which exposed the defence and conceeded a second goal. The manager decided that changes needed to be made and a reformation was also required. Tom Hawkins was moved from the right hand side into a central role and was told to push forward which soon paid off as he hit a scorcher of a ball into the back of the Loscoe goal. Codnor were now back in the game and they started to pressure Loscoe and the game was now being played in the Loscoe half. The last fifteen mins saw the ball in and around the Loscoe penalty area hardly moving away with chances coming thick and fast for Codnor. The fight was on and Loscoe could do no more than scramble the ball off the line to try and hang on to their slender lead. And hold on they did winning the match by just one goal, a far cry from the hammering Codnor suffered at the end of the summer. The match ended 1-2 to Loscoe Dynamo.

Match Report Saturday 7th November Vs Heanor Colliers Reserves

The last time we met with the Colliers Reserves was the first game of the season when the Colliers were victors by eight goals to one. This time round Codnor were a determined side. Ex Colliers player Richard Harvey had an extra motive and was not gonna take this match lying down. Richard made a clear display of  his motivation and determination and this paid off when he got the ball in the Colliers net. It was a tough game for both teams and also a very competitive first half ending at one goal a piece. In the second half Codnor let slip and the Colliers found the net again. Their were plenty of chances at both ends but only the Heanor side could capitalize scoring again from a great free kick. Codnor showed a new quality by not letting their heads drop and kept on fighting till the end without anymore success and the game ended 1-3 in favour of the Colliers.

Match Report Saturday 14th November Vs Derby Singh Brothers

Codnor had a very slow start and yet again conceeded an early goal. Heads also went down early and the Singh Brothers pushed on and were rewarded another goal soon after. The second goal seemed to wake Codnor up and they started trying to play football. The bad weather conditions made the pitch very sliipery and extreemly hard for all players to keep upright. The first half ended 0-2 to the Derby side.  Some well chosen words were fired at the Codnor team in the half time break and they reallised they had to pick themselves up and give it their best shot. They managed to create a few chances but couldn't finish as the lonely forward was running out of steam. Codnor were by far the better team in the secon half and had most of the possession. They refused to let the Singh brothers near the ball but unfortunately could produce at the other end. The match ended 0-2 to Derby Singh Brothers.

Saturday 21st November Vs Derby Deaf

Codnor started the game very well, creating lots of chances but Derby managed to get a goal against the run of play by a  break from the midfield. Codnor finished the first half as they started creating lots of chances but unable to score. The second half saw derby up there game an again catch codnor on the break to take the score to 0-2  A great goal by Tom Hawkins saw him chest the ball, then his knee and a great volley straight past the Derby keeper. This goal  seemed to pick codnor up an bring them back into the game only for derby to score again catching the Miners unaware. Codnor again pushed on an were rewarded again wen Jamie scored a cracking goal. Derby soon reacted with another goal an the game ended 2-4 to Derby Deaf.
